Description
Bahco band saw blade is a long, continuous strip of toothed metal that forms a loop. It is mounted on a band saw machine and rotates around two or more wheels to cut different materials like wood, metal, plastic, and pipes.
How It Works
- The blade moves continuously in one direction.
- The teeth on the edge cut the material as it passes through.
- Because it is a continuous loop, it provides smooth and accurate cutting.
Main Parts
- Teeth – Do the cutting work.
- Blade Body (Backer) – Flexible steel strip.
- Welded Joint – Joins the blade ends to make a loop.
Types of Band Saw Blades
- Carbon Steel Blade – For wood and soft materials.
- Bi-Metal Blade – Long lasting for cutting metal.
- Carbide-Tipped Blade – For hard metals and heavy-duty work.
Important Specifications
- Length – Must match your machine.
- Width – Wide for straight cuts, narrow for curves.
- TPI (Teeth Per Inch)
- Low TPI (2–6) → Faster cutting through thick materials like wood bundles, heavy metals, etc.
- Medium TPI (6–10) → Good all-around performance for wood and general tasks.
- High TPI (10–18) →Finer cuts, better for thin or hard material like sheet metal, plastics, or hardwoods.
