Electrical Insulating Composite Gloves
Raychem Electrical Insulating Composite Gloves are high-performance safety gloves that combine:
- Electrical insulation
- Mechanical protection
- Arc-flash resistance
within one integrated glove system.
They provide superior worker safety, comfort, flexibility, and durability while reducing the need for separate over-gloves. Their compliance with IEC and EN standards, bi-colour safety design, and resistance to harsh industrial conditions make them ideal for professional electrical safety applications.
Description
Raychem RPG Electrical Insulating Composite Gloves are specialized personal protective equipment (PPE) designed to provide combined electrical insulation, mechanical protection, and arc-flash resistance for personnel working on or near live electrical systems. These gloves are manufactured under the KAMFET range and are commonly used in power utilities, electrical maintenance, industrial plants, and transmission/distribution operations.
Key Features :
- Provides protection against electric shock, mechanical hazards, and arc flash energy
- Made from natural latex composite material with a specially treated outer coating
- Bi- colour design:
- Black outer layer
- Red inner layer for easy detection of cuts, tears, or abrasion
- Excellent grip even in damp conditions
- High flexibility and dexterity for comfortable long-duration work
- Resistant to acid, ozone, oil, and low temperatures
- Ergonomic gauntlet-style construction for improved comfort and ventilation
- Does not require separate leather over-gloves for mechanical protection in composite variants
Voltage Protection Classes :
| Class | Maximum Working Voltage (AC) | Proof Test Voltage | Withstand Voltage |
| Class 00 | 500 V | 2.5 kV | 5 kV |
| Class 0 | 1,000 V | 5 kV | 10 kV |
| Class 1 | 7,500 V | 10 kV | 20 kV |
| Class 2 | 17,000 V | 20 kV | 30 kV |
Some arc-rated versions are available up to Class 4 (36 kV).
Standards & Certifications :
The gloves comply with major international safety standards:
- IEC 60903:2014
- EN 60903:2003
- CE Category III
- ASTM F2675 (for arc flash performance)
Arc Flash Protection :
Composite gloves are tested for arc thermal performance:
- Class 00: approx. 14 cal/cm²
- Class 0: approx. 25 cal/cm²
Higher classes may provide greater protection depending on model.
Typical Applications :
- Electrical panel maintenance
- Live-line work
- Substations and switchgear operations
- Utility and transmission work
- Industrial electrical servicing
- Renewable energy installations
Sizes & Construction :
- Palm sizes: 7 to 12
- Length options: 360 mm and 410 mm
- Available in gauntlet style for forearm protection
Storage & Maintenance :
- Store hanging with fingers upward
- Keep away from sunlight, ozone, heat, and moisture
- Dielectric retesting is recommended every 6 months after first use as per standards
